Housekeeping, Hamov Eh and yellow nectarines!

Guoz Garden was a last minute addition to our line-up the last time they came so we didn't get to give them a proper introduction. Apologies.

When Leon Guo discovered the nutritional benefits of mighty microgreens he started growing them and putting them in smoothies for his ailing grandmother. It wasn't long before he decided to scale up and start selling at local markets. Guoz Gardens grow their microgreens indoors, using organic seeds, organic soil, and purified water. They use NO pesticides or fertilizers.

Microgreens are vegetables and herbs that are harvested at the 'leaf stage" of their growth, in the fleeting phase between being sprouts and becoming full-grown vegetables. These greens with teensy leaves tend to be crunchy and colorful and range from mild to spicy on the flavor dial. Add them to any salad, sandwich or grain bowl for some extra nutrition, color and texture! Guoz Garden will be here on the second and fourth Sunday of each month.

Speaking of flavor, color and texture, Forward Roots has let us know they will miss a couple of markets in August due to production issues, so if you're hooked on their kimchi made with local produce, why not buy an extra jar or two to get you through the next few weeks? Good kimchi elevates all your summer sandwiches.

While you're at it, stock up on jars of Armenian sauces, pastes, butters?) from Hamov Eh, one of the best new products of the season. I could wax poetic about all three of her flavors (parsley tahini, red pepper and walnut, date and walnut ) but let's face it, you will buy all three once you taste them at the market.

We have some cool new canvas and jute market bags sporting our cool new logo! Stop by the market tent to buy one this Sunday and then promptly fill it with all the fruit Caradonna Farms and Wright's Farm are bringing this week, summer's sweet spot, as far as local fruit are concerned.

You can expect: yellow peaches, white peaches, nectarines, red plums, yellow plums, apricots, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and sour Lodi apples an early harvest apple with a white flesh and sweet-tart taste that's perfect for making pies and applesauce.

Eggplant is turning up at the market. Make your own smoky eggplant dipor this recipe for grilled eggplant with lemon, mint and labneh.

Found Herbal is here this week so you can restock on all herbal bug spray, sunscreen, and balms to help you sleep, soothe a sunburn, and even tame your beard.

Cleo's Cauli-Tots is also here to help you feed your little ones something quick and healthy after a long day at the beach.

See you at the market!
