Is it Spring yet?

What better place to fend off those post-Valentine, not-yet-Spring blues than the farmers market? When I'm not just enjoying my time at the market and chatting it up, I like to get tips from vendors about their favorite ways to cook their produce. We can rely on our friends at Madura Farm and Tivoli Mushrooms to share tips about which mushrooms will caramelize best in a warming winter soup like this one. Alongside dried herbs, which you can pick up at Halal Pastures Farms, and tangy sour cream, the earthiness of farm-fresh mushrooms will keep you warm and satisfied on these extended winter nights. Crusty bread from Bien Cuit or Wave Hill can't hurt, either!

In the brunch-sphere, I'm always excited when Bloody Good Mud comes to the market. You can infuse this flavor-packed bloody Mary mix into more than just a fabulous brunch cocktail! Take this succulent flank steak with bloody Mary tomato salad: you can use any of Bloody Good Mud's signature mixes to marinate steak from FarmEats or R&M Farm or dress up a side salad with a kick.

I reached out to Capt. Rick, of Pura Vida Fisheries, to see what he was catching this week and he said that after a particularly rough day at sea (40,000 sand sharks destroyed their nets which had to be mended at sea on a boat sheathed in ice) they came back with a sizable haul of squid. "Squid at this time of the year is thicker, and has a more robust flavor because they are not spawning and the ocean is so cold," says Capt. Rick. Try this herbaceous recipe for slow-cooked squid with olives. Or this recipe for sautéed squid with chiles mint and lime.

I love Teagevity's loose leaf chai so much, and I can never get enough of it in the winter. These chai carrot cupcakes are an amazing way to keep the delight flowing. Perfectly sweet carrots from Titusville Farm and spiced maple frosting with my favorite syrup from Maplebrook Farm.

Creamery combine to make these cupcakes sweet, spicy, and unforgettable. Come restock your fridge and pantry if you're returning from a beach or ski vacation!

Please note our knife sharpener will not be return until next month.

We're open from 9:30 to 1 p.m.
