So much to celebrate
Dads, grads, freedom, summer... so much to celebrate! We checked in with a few of our favorite vendor fathers, (whose children often help out at the market), for a little fraternal wisdom and a few recommendations.
Rashaun at Madura Farms told us,
“I love the correlation between watering your seeds and watching them grow because I feel like it's the epitome of guiding and raising your own children or family members. My advice would be to respect your children's minds and thoughts as early as possible; they will appreciate that.”
Cauliflower has begun to grace Madura’s market tables. How about trying some grilled cauliflower steaks?
Drew from FarmEats said, “Creating a family and watching our kids grow into adulthood is such a fascinating experience! It’s so much fun when we are all together, (usually making and eating good food), and creating awesome memories. Hopefully our guidance, loving and nurturing will enable our girls to go out into the world and live joyful, amazing and successful lives.”
FarmEats has plenty of 100% grass fed beef; ribeye, porterhouse, NY strip, flat iron, sirloin steaks and London broil, ground beef and 1/4 pound patties and Mexican style chorizo which goes great in a taco, omelette, or pasta Bolognese. Sandwich steaks are perfect for a stir fry, tacos, or a sandwich on a Wave Hill or Bien Cuit roll with 4E Farms chimichurri. They also have ready made pulled pork, beef and chicken sandwiches on Wave Hill buns.
Doc Pickle recommends combining their hot pickle relish with your favorite barbecue sauce for a kicked-up grilling sauce. Try it out on some Goode and Local pork or R&M Farm chicken. Add a Strawberry Sumac Cake to celebrate Juneteenth.
One of Arlotta Food Studio’s new seasoned wine vinegars would compliment a summer salad and their new spreads are the perfect addition to a plate of Cooperstown Cheese. There are also plenty of pre-made salads available between Nutmeg Bakery and Cafe and True Food.
Escargot Voyageur’s weekly specials are goat cheese quiche, Mediterranean salad, duo de pork confit and chilled fruit soup. He always brings his usual desserts, quiche and savory turnovers, which he is happy to heat for you to eat upon purchase.
A walk through the market easily puts together all the elements of a celebratory meal, so if you’re still undecided, come confer with us at the market tent.
You’re sure to find a perfect gift or treat for yourself at Copper Faucet Soap Company among their handcrafted assortment of candles, diffusers and body products. And don’t forget the candy and flowers...sublime Raw Chocolate Love, Marcelina Orange Treats and beautiful Seed-on-Hudson bouquets.
