Asparagus and rhubarb plus flowers and pottery for MOM!

We're gearing up for a beautiful Mother's Day market this Sunday! We'll be open from 9:30am-1pm at 101 Main St. and can't wait to see you there.

During our last market, I was entranced by Madura Farm's beautiful, thick asparagus stalks. The asparagus harvest season here in New York is fleeting so I'm determined to feature asparagus in as many dishes as possible while I can. Why not combine some of that asparagus with grains from Great Joy Family Farm and eggs from R&M Farm in an asparagus mushroom grain bowl? If you love Madura's mushrooms as much as I do, you can't go wrong. For those of you looking for a perfect dish to bring to those start-of-summer cookouts, this asparagus and chicken salad with ginger dressing is a great place to start.

Pura Vida Fisheries' fresh salmon also looks fantastic right now. Try it with some fresh ginger, scallions, and cilantro from 4E Green Farm in this pressure cooker Vietnamese caramel salmon. Ready, Set, Sharp will be on site to sharpen your knives, so make sure you pay them a visit before you get chopping.

Now, onto the desserts. It wouldn't be Mothers' Day without flowers all around, and I thought it would be a fun change to include the same flowers in a sweet dish for spring. I present to you rhubarb and gin sorbet with rose cream! Pro tip: rosy rhubarb from Madura Farm is in peak season right now and would make the dish pop with flavor. As a bonus treat, La Petite Occasion will be with us again this week. If your mothers, mother figures, or other loved ones in your life are anything like my mom, they'll love these small-batch, artisanal caramels. Does Mom prefer textiles? Check out the cool gifts at the Ici et La Creations tent. Frederique makes reusable bowl covers in pretty fabrics but also swimsuit bags and other assorted pouches and such, many in Liberty patterns. If Mom likes to garden, stop by the Caradonna Farm tent for their dizzying array of potted flowers and plants.

Sea Change Farm & Flower will be selling gorgeous frilly tulips this Sunday, including the stunning Carnaval de Venise variety which bloom like peonies. Irvington-based Ariella Ceramics will likely have gorgeous vessels to put them in (as well as other cool kitchen/dishware). Be sure to stop by to check out both of these visiting vendors.

If you get hungry while you're exploring all the delights our market has to offer, you can grab some pizza or plant-based Mexican food from Pizza Vitale and XOLO Food Truck. Our colorful cafe tables will be spread out throughout the market for your dining pleasure.

We'll see you at the market!
