Father’s Day Delights
Our market falls on Father’s Day this year! It's the perfect place to spend some quality time with loved ones. If you haven’t yet planned out the rest of your Sunday, our vendors have local, fresh ingredients to make sure the day is a delicious one.
Mom usually gets taken out on her day, but why not cook or grill for Dad this year? If you get to the market early you can shop for a mid-day brunch. Consider making this skirt steak to serve with eggs and salsa verde with pastured-beef from R&M Farm or FarmEats.
Or if you're going to grill alongside dad later in the day (check out the tuna or swordfish at Pura Vida as an alternative to meat) make this grilled summer squash and red onion with feta recipe as your side dish. This recipe calls for marinating the veggies after grilling, a technique called escabèche. Head straight to the Maplebrook Farm tent for your feta.
Steak on the grill is traditional, but it's starting to get warm so why not turn your grilled steak into a salad showcasing all the gorgeous produce our farmers have to offer right now?
Buy strawberries to make shortcake or eat out of hand then buy extra to make your own Strawberry jamthat you can enjoy throughout the summer on toasted brioche from Wave Hill Breads. Maybe dad would enjoy a salted strawberry daiquiri on Sunday?
Need dessert? Elderberry Road is back on the plaza with fruit rustic pies and her plum upside-down cakes, among other sweet things.
