Grapes a plenty!

As summer draws to a close, the market is as lively as ever. Last week, I saw that Caradonna Farm has gorgeous red grapes, which are, to me, the perfect bridge between late summer and the autumn that approaches. They'd be perfect, roasted with cauliflower from Madura Farm, almonds and curry, or alongside pork sausage from Goode & Local and onions. If you're looking for something sweeter, grape focaccia is easy to make and a perfect snack for those busy fall days to come. If you're not a huge fan of grapes, blueberries are a great substitution. I tried some fantastic rolls with raisins and walnuts from Bien Cuit last week, and I definitely took my cue for this recipe from them.

Madura Farm also has another fresh summer staple: bell peppers. These sweet peppers are some of my favorite snacks, especially when dipped into AYA Hummus. If you're looking for other ways to incorporate them into meals, a simple stir-fry with eggplants and potatoes from Stoneberry Farm is always a great and flavorful choice. You can also incorporate them into this French-inspired tuna salad sandwich with fresh tuna from PuraVida and a baguette from Varietal Bread Company or crispy spiced chickpeas with peppers and tomatoes.

This week, Anita's Guacamole and Raw Chocolate Love will be joining us for some savory and sweet treats that are sure to leave you smiling. Please don't let the summer pass you by without tasting Shimon's frozen hot chocolate treat. Frederique, of Ici et La Creations will have her handmade swimsuit and toiletry bags for those of you squeezing in a last-minute vacation. If you're looking to get your fridge and kitchen organized this September, ditch the Tupperware and buy her pretty, sustainable bowl covers. And her fabric snack and sandwich bags for the many school lunches ahead!

Speaking of lunch... this Sunday, you can head over to Spain at Home to pick up some traditional or vegetarian paella or to the XOLO Food Truck for authentic Mexican fare. Our good friend Milton will be playing music from 10:30 to12:30 and you won't want to miss his set.

We'll see you at the market!
