Let us feed your holidays...
We're in for a delicious week here at IFM. Whether you're celebrating Passover, Ramadan, Easter, or simply enjoying the emergence of spring after a long, drab winter we've got local ingredients to make your week brighter, and nourishing on so many levels.
For folks observing Passover this week, try adding a gorgeous plate of matzo lasagna to your spread. You can pick up fresh mozzarella from DiRiso, eggs from Madura Farm, and olive oil from Kontoulis Family Olive Oil. If you're observing Ramadan, our vendors have plenty of fresh ingredients that would blend beautifully in some harira soup to break your fast; you can grab onions, ginger, and garlic from 4E Green Farm, beans from Great Joy Family Farm, and pasta from La Trafila. And if you're planning an Easter brunch but don't know what to make, try some savory bacon cornbread with cheddar and scallions. You can find bacon at Goode and Local, cheddar at Cooperstown Cheese, and scallions at Great Joy Family Farm.
I can't wait to try my hand at this farro risotto with caramelized apples and fennel, especially since the spring sunshine glints off of Caradonna Farm's selection of apples so beautifully. You can, of course, get onions from Madura Farm and cheese from Cooperstown Cheese to complete the recipe. I also recommend picking up fresh scallops from Pura Vida so you can make these seared scallops with spring onion and tarragon cream. Nutmeg Bakery is serving up colorful cookies for Easter for those last-minute Easter baskets. Amish Supreme Foods will be selling her traditional Easter Breads.
We have a new vendor with us this week! We're excited to welcome Lago Grey Woodworking to IFM. Over at their tent, you can find cutting boards and other wooden masterpieces with artful engravings. Perfect to serve your Easter lamb or ham. R&M Farms is unable to be here this week so we've asked
FarmEATS to bring some extra chicken and pork. Great Joy Farm is bringing chicken and beef from their farm as well. Both Madura Farm and Great Joy will also bring extra eggs so you should be able to find everything you need. And, of course, Goode & Local has plenty of local pork, from iberian pigs, both fresh and cured. Don't forget the hot sauce! PB Hot Sauce is back with their tangy sauces offering varying degrees of sass and heat.
Myriad Mirage will also be with us on Sunday selling handcrafted jewelry inspired by local flora.
If you get hungry at the market, visit Escargot Voyageur for crepes and other delicacies and/or the XOLO Food Truck for some plant-based Mexican deliciousness. Folks talk about their breakfast burritos, but do try their tamales and tortas, also packed with flavor.
We'll see you at the market!
