Nectarine Dreams!

It's so easy to take stone fruit for granted in the summer because there are so many of them and they are everywhere. But, trust us, come October you're going to look at the sea of apples at the market and wonder why you didn't eat more nectarines this summer.

So consider this an open invitation to binge on stone fruit from Caradonna and Wright's Farm this week!

We feel it our personal mission each week to remind you that fruit and berries should not be limited to sweet concoctions. This week is no exception.

Which is why we'd like to encourage you to make this aromatic peach and cucumber salad or this prosciutto nectarine and fontina panini on rosemary-focaccia. Wave Hill Breads can help you in the focaccia department and Cooperstown Cheese will happily offer you a fontina alternative.

Then you can move on to the sweeter side of stone fruit recipes such as this

peach plum galetteor this nectarine upside-down cake.

Madura Farms will have corn this week. YAY! Grab all the tomatoes and basil you can and make this quintessential summer salad. Hopefully you got your knives sharpened last week so the kernels should just slide off the cob.

Salsawallito is back this week with their authentic salsas. And Great Joy Farm is harvesting their first batch of seeded watermelon. So, so sweet!

Since there are 5 Sundays in the month of July, Spain at Home added an extra visit to Irvington. Lucky us.

Yes, Laura's paella is outstanding, but don't overlook her tortilla espanola, a staple of every tapas bar in Spain, which is truly delicious and a good brunch alternative to eat at the market while you enjoy local songbird Grace Redonis.

Our favorite chocolatier, Shimon, has been working on a frozen hot chocolate beverage made with his organic raw chocolate for a while now, and he has finally perfected it just in time for the peak of summer. An ice cold frappe chocolate drink that you can feel good about serving to your children? Sign me up.

See you at the market!

Don't forget your  textiles for the recycling bin!
