Spring-a-ding-ding!

Since spring will have officially sprung by our next market date, let's whip up some bright, springy fish tacos! This refreshing dish is bursting with the flavor of your favorite Pura Vida white fish and zingy cilantro from Halal Pastures Farm. Aside from evoking warm, coastal weather, these tacos are a great choice for anyone who is focusing on seafood for Lent.

Although Nowruz, the Persian new year, is celebrated just before our market this year (from March 20-21), we can keep the festivities flowing and love the new season well into the weekend! Ash reshteh is a flavorful Persian soup that makes excellent use of your favorite greens and herbs, from iron-rich spinach to tangy dill, in a slowly cooked, garlicky broth. It's also full of protein-rich beans and would be a great component of an Eid al-fitr meal. Visit Titusville Farm and Madura Farm to pick your favorite greens, garlic, and onions, and Letterbox Farm for homemade broth.

And the sunshine makes me think of salads but the spring produce isn't quite ready to star in a salad bowl. Enter this perfect feta and red cabbage salad from Smittenkitchen.com.

I'm coming back from North Carolina this week, where my aunt and I talked a lot about how much we love donuts. So, this dessert recipe is for Aunt Carla! Strawberry sufganiyot (jelly donuts) are a total crowd-pleaser, and with farm-fresh eggs and jam, you'll never get enough. Remember: we have plenty of eggs at the market!  Get creative with homemade jam recipes or peruse the fantastic offerings at Halal Pastures Farm. Or, if you can't wait for your own, pick up some donuts from our friends at Bien Cuit, but be sure to get there early! They sell out quickly.

Our buddy Matt from Ready, Set, Sharp! can get you and those knives set up before you get carving, so bring whatever you'd like sharpened to the market this week. There is spring pruning in your future! Ash Hopper Botanical Skincare is back this week with their signature soaps, reparative serums, and all kinds of delicious products for your skin and hair. Their emerald oil is just the thing to soothe your dry winter skin.

Their products smell and feel fantastic and in addition to being crafted with love, they include only healthy not harsh ingredients. And lastly, Mama Hu's Sushi Bakes won first prize and audience choice at the Big Connecticut Food Event! Drop by to pick up convenient, high quality sushi bakes and congratulate Catherine on her win.
