Welcome, September!

A longtime market customer urged me to bring home some white peaches from Caradonna Farm at the end of last week’s market, and I’m so glad I did! After letting them ripen on the window sill for a few days, they were so juicy and sweet that each piece fell easily from the pit. So this week, peaches (and other stone fruits) are the stars of the show! Overripe peaches and fresh herbs soften and sweeten these skillet meatballs to bring out their rich flavor. You can use fresh ginger and garlic from Madura Farms to make your own meatballs, or pick them up pre-made from Letterbox Farm.

Grilled chicken breasts from R&M Farm with peach and cucumber salsa makes an easy weeknight dinner. You can bring out those hydrating fruit flavors even more by marinating them in bespoke Bloody Mary mix from Bloody Good Mud. For dessert, or just a fresh end-of-summer snack, try the subtle herbal sweetness of nectarines and peaches with lavender syrup

PSA: Matt from Ready, Set, Sharp reports that he’s amassed a huge collection of customers’ tea towels that he wants to reunite with their rightful owners. He’ll be back at the market on September 23, and you can come to me at the market tent on that day to reclaim any that belong to you!

DiRiso Risotto Balls joins us this week with a large variety of crispy risotto balls. Between their focaccia and the mouth-watering menu at KinwichSandwich Truck, lunch at the market is well covered! I also know a few vendors who will be very excited that Goode & Local by Don Rodrigo Farm is back this week with plump cheddar bratwursts.

Hosting a BBQ over the long weekend? Gussy up your table with a bevy of blooms from Wagonfull Flowers. You'll want at least one tub of AYA Hummus for your guests; pair with a baguette from Wave Hill Breads or plantain chips from Kariba Farms for a simple appetizer. And your choice of cheeses from Aux Bon Fromages or Second Mouse Cheese is always a good idea. If you're not interested in baking this long weekend, try a seasonal upside down cake from Elderberry Road or a selection of macaron from Gaelle's French Pastries

Milton will be playing from 10:30-12:30, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the tunes. See you at the market!
