Let the summer wind-down begin...and be delicious!

Summer might be winding down, but that doesn’t mean your taste buds have to! The figs at Caradonna Farms are in season and ready to infuse their unique, jammy flavor into all kinds of sweet and savory dishes. Let’s start with breakfast, since these increasingly crisp mornings are practically begging for a heaping plate of lemon ricotta pancakes with figs! You can head over to Maplebrook Farm Creamery for creamy ricotta and your new favorite maple syrup.

These homemade fig Newtons are a labor of love that are perfect for school lunches, and you can pick your favorite handmade lunchbox from Ici et La to carry them in style. Kariba Farms  has an awesome variety of dried veggie chips that I highly recommend when you need something light to snack on throughout the day. When you’re ready for a meal, you’ll be head over heels for this chicken dinner with roasted figs and jalapeños from Halal Pastures Farms. To round it all out, serve it with a fresh salad that substitutes tomatoes from Madura Farm for the typical melon, and adds figs and beautifully salted prosciutto.

Before you get to cooking any of these mouth-watering dishes, though, you’ll want to have Ready, Set, Sharp get those knives in working order! And stock up on fresh pasta from Wildyards and olive oil from Agape Premium EVOO to get a head-start on easy meals for the rest of the week.

Stop by the Sports Swap community table at the market entrance to pick up any equipment you might need before school starts! Vicente Saavedra will be playing tranquil, Sunday morning guitar tunes, so be sure to come between 10:30 and 12:30.
