A very special peanut butter, strawberries and Dough Nation is back!

Ok I confess. I have been accused of hiding my jar of Noomi Peanut Butterfrom the family.

I don't actually hide it... I just put it in a part of the fridge rarely explored by others, tucked behind the pound bag of hazelnut flour, for example, or behind a giant Mason jar of house-pickled onions. And when others ask "are we out of the good peanut butter?" I pretend not to hear.

I have my reasons: throughout the winter peanut butter maker Krystina Murawski couldn't keep up with demand for her healthy nut spread sweetened with dates. Plus, there was a pandemic-related shortage of glass jars and she had to cancel a few markets. The stuff had to be doled out gingerly.
Now the secret is out and Noomi peanut butter will be at the market this Sunday. I recommend buying at least two jars.

The Napa cabbage at the Stoneberry Farm tent is so pretty this year with its purple-ish cast so perfect for the spicy slaw that goes into these grilled steak tacos. Like tofu, Napa cabbage absorbs all the flavors around it which is why it's so popular in stews and soups and stir-fries.

Try this recipe for soy and ginger steamed fish. Ginger, mushrooms, fish and, of course, the cabbage can all be purchased at the market.

There are so many strawberries at the market right now and they're only going to get sweeter as the weeks go on. Cap any summer meal with this refreshing strawberry sorbet one of the most popular strawberry recipes the New York Times has ever published. The secret? You use an entire lemon to make it, peel, pith and all. It works!

Berry Brook Farm has some hot-house cukes...so refreshing in a salad with fresh mint and feta or yogurt.

We have two prepared food options for you this week: Leila's Crepes, which is alternating with their empanada truck throughout the summer.
And this Sunday marks the return of Dough Nation, the Cookery's roving wood-fired pizza oven. Grab a pie or a crepe and sit at one of our colorful cafe tables and soak in some sunshine while you enjoy the music (Milton this week).

A gentle reminder that masks are required for the first hour of the market to protect our most vulnerable shoppers or those who have children at home who are not yet vaccinated. Thank you for understanding.

See you at the market!
