Awash in strawberries!

You know we're verging on summer in New York when strawberries start popping up. Did you get a load of the display at Wright's Farm last week? Strawberries as far as the eye could see.

With so many strawberries at the market you really shouldn't limit them to dessert. You can use them to brighten up this bavette steak with tahini-vegetable salad, which makes use of a bunch of other delicious market staples such as grass-fed steak from R&M Farm  or FarmEats,  and rhubarb from Madura or Great Joy Family Farm if you're looking for a classic summer dessert to go along with it, look no further than this lattice-top strawberry pie.

Terrified of tackling the crust? Try this for NYT strawberry shortcake instead.

Folks were commenting on how fresh, plump and briny the mussels were at Pura Vida last week. Get some this week to make this roasted halibut with mussel-butter sauce. Madura Farm has beautiful purple shallots for this recipe. Madura's mushrooms would also go well with R&M Farm'stender chicken in chicken and mushroom bulgogi lettuce wraps

Speaking of lettuce.. I'm so overjoyed to have Stoneberry Farms back with us, not just because we love Hunter and Connor, but because their lettuce heads are both dazzling and delicious.

The last summer staple I'll leave you with today is a vegetarian take on the classic reuben sandwich that would be especially delicious if you substitute Eltee's Tommy Jam for ketchup. You can also use bread from Wave Hill, cheese from Cooperstown, and pickles from Doc Pickle to tie the sandwich together.

This week's non-edible market offerings include gorgeous bouquets from Wagon Full Flower Farm, our second flower farmer joining us this season. Teranga Flower Farm and Wagon Full Flower Farm will be alternating this season as both flower farms reached out to join the market on the exact same day and we thought that was only fair.

We'll also have hand-poured candles from Fleur Piton, and lunchboxes, sustainable kitchen wrap, and other reusable cloth goods from Ici et La Creations.

I cannot wait to welcome back Muscovado Sweets with their beautiful vegan desserts that look like they should be on display in a museum. And who can forget baker Cynthia's smile that lights up the market?

Did you like the theatrics of the SMOK'D tent last week? Wait until you see Spain at Home at the IFM for the first time this week, with their huge, simmering paella pan! Leila's Empanadas and DoughNation Pizza Truck will also join us so make sure to grab a picnic blanket before you leave the house to enjoy some good grub on the grass.

The always delightful Peter Calo will be in the music tent from 10:30 to 12:30.

We'll see you at the market!
