Back outside and on the cusp of spring!
Hello everyone! I'm excited to announce that the market will be fully outside again starting this week. Come find us from 9:30am-1pm in the parking lot of the Main Street School, and don't forget that we'll be jumping an hour forward to get into the swing of daylight savings time.
Now onto the food! Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, our friends at Wave Hill Breads will be selling loaves of Irish soda bread with boozy raisins that have been soaked in Jameson Whiskey for 24 hours. Make sure to stop by their stall to pick one for yourself, and one perhaps, for an Irish friend who might appreciate the gesture.
As eager as I am for spring to set in, I'll be making the most of soup weather while I still can. 4E Green Farm is growing some gorgeous kale that would gladly star in this kale soup with potatoes from Madura Farm and plump pork sausage from Goode and Local. For the vegetarians and vegans among us, I recommend picking up some mushrooms and scallions from Madura Farm to use in this soup made with rice noodles, mushrooms, scallions, and chili oil. For an extra kick, you can add some PB Hot Sauce. Perry returns this week with his line of tangy hot sauces. He needs to duck out early, however, so if you've been craving his PB Hot Sauce, hit him up first!
Speaking of elixirs...
Sometimes the change of season and Daylight Savings Time changes can wreak havoc on your system. Pick up some bracing Annie's Ginger Elixir to brace yourself!
Jenny, from AYA Hummus is bringing more of her new olive tapenade hummus since she sold out swiftly last week.
Have a hectic week? Take out your sheet-pan and try this sheet-pan chicken with roasted plums and onions. Unfortunately, plums are not in season so you'll have to hit your supermarket for those. OR substitute with local apples. Head straight to R & M Farm for your free-ranger chicken. I'm excited to try my hand at this carrot maqluba this week, since no number of carrots ever seems to satisfy my craving. And the color!
As far as lunch offerings, tomorrow you can expect the Pizza Vitale and Leila's Empanadas will be food trucks. Spring may be coming but you will appreciate a warming cup of hot chocolate from Raw Chocolate Love made with his unadulterated pure dark chocolate and almond milk. La Petite Occasion will be here with her famous artisanal caramels and the last of her pistachio toffee for the season. Also delicious, the new tahini-walnut breads from Anish Supreme Breads. Teetering between savory and sweet, they are uniquely satisfying.
We'll see you at the market!
