Blossoms, balms and bbq fixings
Ok. School's out. Now you can focus on entertaining friends at home after our "lost" year of socializing. Start stockpiling easy grilling recipes so you can host without any fuss or muss.
Market ingredients are really so fresh and flavorful you really don't have to do much to them to turn out a delicious meal. Start with grilled zaatar chicken with garlic yogurt and cilantro and serve it with this colorful kohlrabi and carrot slaw.
I love cooking zucchini on the grill. But I always end up losing a few strips through the grate. Steve Raichlan, the maestro of all things grillin', has come up with this ingenious method of grilling summer squash: cutting it into thin ribbons which you then skewer. Brilliant! Can't wait to try this
at home.
Everyone has been asking Hunter and Conner at the Stoneberry Farmtent when they will start bringing flowers...well, the purple yarrow (my favorite) and sunflowers are in! These flower bunches are the perfect way to brighten your home each week. And they make such a sweet (and easy) gift for anyone you know who might need a splash of color in their life.
Speaking of color...the new organic summer lemon & raspberry tea at Teagevity is off the hook, and should be your go-to quaff on a hot summer day.
Found Herbal returns this week after a long hiatus. This full-service herbal apothecary got its start at our markets and has since opened one of the most popular (and beautiful) storefronts in Hastings and Bronxville. We are so happy to have them back at the market, once a month, with their salves and balms to soothe and tame everything from sunburns to pandemic beards. Make sure to pick up some of their bug-off bars for your young camper. So easy to apply and slip into beach bags and backpacks.
Finally, please welcome new vendor, Cleo's Cauli Tots... a healthy, quick cauliflower alternative to your go-to child pleaser. Made with oat flour, vegan cheddar cheese, nutritional yeast, ground flax seed, spices and salt. Vegan. Gluten-free. And still yummy.
See you at the market!
