Countdown to presents
Oh, how time flies! I can’t believe we’re already gearing up for our first winter market of the season. And what a market it’s going to be! Please join us in welcoming vendors new and old to the market while you stock up on holiday delights—both edible and/or “giftable.”Titusville Farm, a regenerative and biodynamic farm based in Poughkeepsie, is joining our lineup this winter with pretty orange tents and vegetables that will dress up this sweet and spicy roast chicken (from R&M or Letterbox Farm) just in time for Hanukkah. With the right amount of spice and a honey glaze made from Boogie Down Bronx Honey, (yay, winter season means beekeeper Sean is back), it’s the perfect centerpiece for a festive holiday meal. If you want a different way to dress up some greens for a side dish, get hyper-seasonal and pick out some favorites from Madura Farm or Halal Pastures to cook down into buttery, garlicky creamed braising greens. For an unexpected dessert that mixes favorite seasonal flavors, try using pears from Caradonna Farm and rosemary from Halal Pastures Farm in a cake with chocolate and rosemary. Woodsy, cozy, and not too sweet, it’s a great snacking cake for the holiday season. Please remember to bring your knives to Matt from Ready Set Sharp! before you get cooking! If you’ve got a holiday potluck coming up and don’t have time to cook a huge meal, pay a visit to Pesto Bros and Bambino Ravioli for an easy pasta fix, or Homespun Chili for all kinds of winter staples, including vegan and vegetarian options. And if you’re searching for unique and thoughtful gifts for loved ones or colleagues, we can help! Coco Designs, Mermud Studio, Pinmillmade Knits and Mermade Brooklyn NY, will be on hand with exquisite pottery, cozy knit hats, wooly ornaments and embroidered tea towels. Plus, FarmEats has beautiful gift baskets and a limited supply of 100% grass-fed tallow cream to fight the dryness this season. The Wreath Forager will also have beautiful handmade wreaths to gussy up your home this winter. The Hudson Valley Singers will be dropping by around 11:30 to make things extra festive.
