Curl up and cook this week!

While there is an abundance of stressors in the world today–and they might seem particularly heavy this week–I find that every time I prepare and share a meal with loved ones, I can bask in the simplicity and joy of it, if only for an evening. I’ll be looking for ingredients to create peaceful moments at this week’s market, and Forward Roots Kimchi is certainly on my list with this kimchi grilled cheese on my menu. You can also elevate this comforting classic even more with freshly sliced bread from Wave Hill Breads.

Have you seen the mighty Brussels sprouts stalks at 4 E Farms? You can roast them in the oven right on the stalk. Or get some apple cider from Wright’s Farm to make these cider-glazed Brussels sprouts. You could also use some of their fragrant cilantro with fresh fish from Pura Vida in this cumin-roasted salmon with cilantro sauce.

I took home some beautiful radishes from Great Joy Family Farm last Sunday, and while they were incredibly flavorful raw, I’m eager to try these brown butter glazed radishes as a side for my next meal.

If you’re getting into soups as the weather gets colder, I recommend picking up some broccoli from Madura Farms to use in this creamy broccoli soup, or maybe try using some lotus root from Great Joy Family Farms and pasture-raised chicken from R&M Farms in this Nishime (Dashi-Braised Vegetables With Chicken). If you're low on time this week and need some quick and easy dinners, Jody's Kitchen is bringing her homespun soups like Moroccan lentil, kale and lamb soup and Escargot Voyageur has those amazing bacon and leek quiches that are perfect for sharing.

If you come to the market on an empty stomach, we’ve got you covered! Stop by the Leila’s Empanadas food truck to grab yourself a savory treat while you search for ingredients to carry you through the rest of the week. Or grab a market pie from the wood-burning oven of Dough Nation's pizza truck.

Our gluten-free friends out there can look forward to the return of 3x3 Kitchen to the market this week. They’ll be selling a variety of gluten-free breads, made with black rice or chickpea flour. Have you tried their bacon & gruyère bundts to see what all the buzz is about? Muscovado Sweets and Peekskill Cookie Company will surely hit the spot by providing homemade cakes and cookies for vegan and non-vegan folks alike.

Make sure to walk the market to get some inspiration for Thanksgiving...in preparation for your big shop next week. And don't forget to pick up a winter market schedule at the market tent

Jon Corbett will be playing at the music tent from 10:45-12:45, so we encourage you to stop by in time to sit in the sun and enjoy his set.

We’ll see you at the market!
