It’s good to be back

Hello all, and happy new year! We at the Irvington Farmers Market hope you and your loved ones had a lovely holiday season and are ready to get back to the market. We certainly are!

This week, I’m excited to stock up on ingredients for one of my all-time favorite winter dishes: mushroom bourguignon. Our friends at Madura Farm have beautiful pearl onions and mushrooms that will add that special cozy touch to your dish. I’m also looking forward to trying this sunchoke and apple salad, which will shape up gorgeously with sunchokes from Great Joy Family Farm and wintry greens from 4E Family Farm.

AYA Hummus will be back again to serve up well-balanced homemade hummus. I highly recommend using any of their flavors in these sweet and sassy sweet potato pockets; Bien Cuit and Wave Hill will surely have the perfect bread to get the job done.

We also have a few new vendors joining us this week! Please give a warm welcome to Maplebrook Creamery, whose Vermont-made artisanal cheeses will liven up anything you’re whipping up. Their fresh mozzarella would be fantastic with tomatoes from Caradonna Farm on a plate of farro with blistered tomatoes, pesto, and spinach. While you’re exploring, be sure to pick up some tomato jam from Eltee’s Goods so you can try your hand at these savory corn and basil muffins with ricotta and tomato jam. If you’re craving some delicious pre-made food, Anish Supreme Foods will be selling incredible Middle Eastern treats, from date and apricot rolls with nuts and local honey to grass-fed beef bone broth and red lentil cakes.

By popular demand, Fearless Cook Food Truck will be with us again this Sunday, serving up all sorts of warm dishes; I cannot praise their Moroccan fritters highly enough. If you’re looking for a simple and delicious way to start the day, visit DoughCo Bagels or The Sconery for some ready-made goodies.

Since we’re experiencing unexpectedly warm weather, the market will take place outside this week; you couldn’t ask for a better time to have some fresh juice from the Fairy Juice Bar or a power smoothie from the Ambrosia Juicery Food Truck, both here to help you with those “get healthy” New Year’s resolutions.

That’s all for now! We’ll see you at the market.
