Let Us give Thanks
There's plenty to be grateful for at the market this year. Here's just a sampling...
For the bounty of fall crops on the tables of our farmers: Berry Brook Farm, Caradonna Farms, Madura Farm, Stoneberry Farm and Wrights Farm. Not quite sure what to do with all the tubers and root vegetables? Here’s a tempting recipe for Potato–and–Celery Root Biscuits.
For the last chance to buy your November holiday poultry or brisket from R&M Farm**. Perhaps you’re choosing to prepare Pura Vida salmon or Hudson Valley Fisheries steelhead trout instead? Here’s a simple recipe that would work for either fish.
For new vendors who’ve quickly gained a following: Hamov Eh...awesome Armenian dips, Knot of this World Pretzels...sweet and savory hand-held treats, Mama Lam’s...wonderfully warming Malaysian curry and 3x3 Kitchen...creative gluten-free baking.
For our “tried and true” international vendors who continue to sustain us with their specialties. diRiso not only has amazing risotto balls but have you tried their ready to bake lasagna? Anthi’s Greek Specialties with sweet and savory Mediterranean favorites, Asian Farmer’s popular dumplings, noodles and condiments, and Silvia’s Kitchen who now offers the choice of mixing and matching several of their miniature enticing Argentinian pastries.
For Gigi, a farmer's market manager in New Jersey, who graciously stepped in to sell for Bien Cuit in times of staff shortages. Stop by and she’ll happily school you on the difference between miche and pain de mie. Then visit Cooperstown Cheese where Laetitia will gladly guide you through her offerings, whether you're looking to make a fancy grilled cheese sandwich or put together a holiday cheese board. She loves to sample!
For the seasonal return of Michelle’s Winter Wreaths. Decorating for Hanukkah, Solstice, Christmas, whatever your theme, she can customize. Also cross some names off your shopping list with beautiful nature-inspired jewelry by Myriad Mirage and handcrafted natural personal care products and alluring scents from The Copper Faucet Soap Company.
For Leila’s Crepes and Empanadas, Pizza Vitale, True Foods, Don Carvajal Coffee, Teagevity and Wrights Apple Farm (hot apple cider) who continually warm our bellies and hands with hot food and drink during the market.
For Hive Juice and Raw Chocolate Love who infuse their products with high nutritional value and creative flavor combinations. Also guest vendor Marcelina Orange Treats with her bitter orange peel dipped in dark chocolate, and orange marmalade, both regular and spicy. This is sure to interest someone you know!
For market pairings that pique your curiosity. How about this simple salad with Joe Mozzarella cheese, Doc Pickle pickled green tomatoes and Arlotta balsamic?
For Berry Brook Farm and Stoneberry Farm as they close out another season. A few years back Berry Brook took the leap from land leasing to land owning. This year Stoneberry is also moving to a larger location. Congratulations to these young farmers who have chosen to keep alive the tradition with such a wide variety of organic crops. We look forward to seeing you back in the spring! In the meantime, stay tuned for some other farmers who will join us for our winter season.
For the opportunity to “stock up” with Hamov Eh and Asian Farmer whose products both freeze well. Also Copper Faucet; these vendors will be on hiatus for the winter season but will return come spring.
For days of rest for vendors and staff. No market Thanksgiving weekend 11/28. Our winter market schedule begins the second and fourth Sundays of each month from December through May. Until then, you can find many of your favorite vendors at our sister Morning Glory Markets:
