Wrapping up 2021
It’s hard to believe this will be our last market of 2021!!! Fear not, we will return for the winter months in January on the second and fourth Sunday, alternating with the Hastings Farmers Market which is held on the first and third Saturday of each month. The winter hours for both markets are 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
We’re feeling festive and there will be plenty for you to wrap for gift giving from the market.
La Petite Occasion’s caramels and toffee are handmade with locally sourced ingredients and already packaged in attractive boxes and tins. Stop by and congratulate Michele on her recent awards from the International Chocolate Salon.
I will be stocking up on Marcelina Orange Treats dark chocolate covered orange peels. This was one of my late father’s favorites and I have never tasted better ones. Brooklyn entrepreneur Dora’s marmalade, regular or spicy, compliments Cooperstown Cheese and Bien Cuit and Wave Hill breads. It also makes a great glaze on R&M Farms pork or poultry and Pura Vida or Hudson Valley Fisheries seafood. Here’s a recipe you might want to try with your Mangalitsa Christmas ham.
With a stroll through the market you can easily fill a gift basket or bag with unique treats. Some other choices include Don Carvajal Coffee, Teagevity tea, Kontoulis Greek Olive Oil, Blondery cake jars and blondies, Raw Chocolate Love, Farm Eats NY maple syrup, Jody’s Kitchen seasoned sea salts and tipsy cherries and Rescue Treats for your pooch. You’ll find several vendors with gift packaging; Silvia’s Kitchen has holiday tins filled with alfajores or brigadeiros which she asks you preorder by texting her at 646-283-5938.
Several vendors will even ship for you; a Doc Pickle Pickle Fanatic’s Gift Basket.

New vendor Escargot Voyageur joins our lineup this week. Chef Thierry prepares classic French tourtes (some with Provençal vegetables, other with snails!). His quiche Lorraine is standout as is his creme brûlée which he will caramelize for you on the spot with his traveling torch.
A few visiting crafting vendors are sure to pique your interest. August Wren’slively prints and textiles would brighten anyone’s spirits as would the exquisite embroidery of Mermade. Michelle’s Winter Wreaths creates beautiful holiday decor from naturally foraged materials and are sure to gather compliments.
Worry not, we will have plenty of produce, too. 4E Farms is back with us this winter (remember their spicy salad mix?) and of course, so is Madura Farms. Letterbox Farm will be joining us in January. Guoz Garden is also back with their microgreens. etc. etc. Did you know microgreens have 10 to 40 times more nutrition than the regular vegetable? Hive Juice is also a great way to boost your nutrients and Forward Roots kimchi is not only tasty but probiotic rich; a perfect addition to your diet as we all try to build our immune systems.
We wish you all the best of holidays and look forward to seeing you at this final fun and festive market of 2021!
