New Year, New Vendors, a Warm Welcome to All
We’re back and oh so happy to be, and know you’re glad too! Please join us in welcoming a few new vendors and embracing (figuratively for now) your old favorites.
Letterbox Farm is a diversified organic farm in Hudson, NY They will be bringing eggs, seasonally pastured, non-gmo fed from their local mill, pasture raised Berkshire pork and organic greens and herbs. These orange mustard glazed pork chops would be perfect with Marcelina Orange Treats marmalade; you choose, regular or spicy.
Trafila is the Italian word referring to the bronze dies used to extrude various shapes of pasta. This award-winning chef couple has built their Brooklyn business, La Trafila Fresh Pasta, into a leading manufacturer of fresh pasta for homes and restaurants. Taste the difference fresh makes and how about accenting with some Madura Farm mushrooms and Cooperstown Cheese?
You’ve come to know the quality and excellent service of FarmEats Pastured Beef but did you know they also now operate FarmEats BBQ in downtown Irvington? Starting this week they will be serving up grass fed and pasture raised pulled pork, pulled beef and pulled chicken sandwiches at the market. All meats smoked low and slow over hardwood and served on Wave Hill brioche buns.
Did you discover Escargot Voyageur at our last market? What’s more welcoming than a kettle of hot soup at an outdoor winter market? How about that creme brûlée that was caramelized tent-side? Chef Thierry’s classic French tourtes and quiche Lorraine are also standouts. And word has it he’s making Galette des Rois cake for Sunday, in honor of the Epiphany.
Leila's Crepes is back too with their popular hand-held sweet and savory choices. Pair with a Don Carvajal coffee or Teagevity tea for market brunch. There are also always plenty of pastry choices between Bien Cuit, Nutmeg Bakery, Sylvia’s Kitchen and Wave Hill.
January always calls for a touch of “healthy” and especially in these times! How about some Om Champagne Tea (premium kombucha), Forward Roots Kimchi, Guoz Garden micro greens, AYA Hummus or Jody's Kitchen Immunity Booster Broth? If you’re feeling like making your own “tonic”, here’s a timely recipe for Restorative Ginger-and-Turmeric Noodle Soup.
It may be winter but you’ll still find plenty of produce among the tents. Last market, new vendor Orchard Hill Organics joined us and 4E Farms returned after their popularity last winter. Caradonna Farm and Madura Farm continue to come in strong.
A reminder that winter market hours are 9:30 am to 1p m and the first hour masks are required to accommodate our more vulnerable shoppers.
See you Sunday!
