this week at IFM
Late October in the Hudson Valley greets us with skeletons firmly affixed to front doors, jack-o-lanterns ready for their annual moment of glory, and the feeling that our new schedules might just be settling into comfortable routines. At this week’s market, we invite you to spice yours up with a twist on an old classic: try using glass gem corn from Stoneberry Farm to make maple rosemary kettle corn for your next movie night.
This week, our friends at R&M Farms have the perfect cuts for some cider braised pork shoulder with caramelized onion and apple confit. (Make sure you get your kitchen knives sharpened with Ready Set Sharp so you’re prepared for the momentous occasion.) And of course, the apples at Wrights Farm will doubtlessly continue to factor into our fall feasts!
For those of us who are setting our sights on the vegetables of the season, a side of zucchini with basil, mint, and honey would delight anyone who’s trying to balance the heartier flavors of autumn with something light; honey from Goode and Local and zucchini from Caradonna Farms will certainly do the job beautifully. The sweet potatoes at Madura Farms are also looking particularly vibrant and ready to be transformed into a comforting bowl of sweet potato gnocchi. Try seasoning it with spiced sea salts from Jody’s Kitchen if you’re feeling particularly zesty!
The gluten free folks among us can rejoice in the return of 3x3 Kitchen this week. With a gorgeous variety of gluten free baked goods on display, you’re sure to find something for any occasion. And we have some treats for our vegan friends as well. Not only will XOLO Food Truck be selling plant-based Mexican meals, but Muscovado Sweets will also be joining us again with a wide variety of vegan desserts.
We’re lucky to have Milton playing music with us this week, and we’d love for you to come by and hear his set from 10:45am-12:45pm.
We’ll see you at the market!
Sierra, your market manager.
